Dear partners & friends:

We are proud to give you the inside scoop on some very exciting news -- we have a new name and a new logo!

The two organizations Getting Healthy and Southern Kennebec Healthy Communities have combined under a new name.

We are now "Healthy Communities of the Capital Area."

WHY THE CHANGE?
One name instead of two will help our communities know who we are,  where we are, and what we do. The new name will brand our organization and help to bring a wider cross section of the community together to work on a spectrum of quality of life issues.

WHAT DOES THE CHANGE MEAN?
While our name has changed, the work we do has not. We will continue the work of the Healthy Maine Partnerships: to promote policy and environmental change, to increase opportunities for physical activity, to improve nutrition and to limit tobacco exposure. As always, we will continue the work of a community coalition: to convene and support people, organizations and communities to collaborate on quality of life issues.

HOW WAS THE NEW NAME AND LOGO SELECTED?
We worked with Shoestring Creative Group (a local firm that specializes in nonprofit marketing) and our board of directors to "re-brand" our organization. The process was carefully managed, and focused on the mission of our organization and our goals for the future. Many factors and options were carefeully considered and we were very pleased that the board approved the "Healthy Communities of the Capital Area" name as well as the new logo that will help organization connect with the communities we serve. In addition to the new logo design, a tagline was developed -- "making connections ~ improving lives"

Not only do we have a new name, we have a new office. Please be sure to change your contact information:
